More Ladyhawke More Ladyhawke

It certainly doesn’t feel like it’s been 15 years since Ladyhawke first stunned audiences with her self-titled debut album – but time is a flat circle, and Pip Brown is indeed celebrating a decade and a half of her indie-pop classic.

Today (April 16), she announced a five-date Australian tour to honour the occasion. It’ll kick off in Adelaide (Kaurna) on Friday July 26, when she takes to the stage at The Gov. She’ll head to Fremantle (Boorloo) next, playing the Freo.Social the following night (July 27), before heading over to Brisbane (Meanjin) to play the Princess Theatre on Thursday August 1 as part of this year’s Open Season series.

Rounding out the week, Ladyhawke will perform at the Metro Theatre in Sydney (Eora) on Friday August 2, and the Northcote Theatre in Melbourne (Naarm) on Saturday August 3.

Tickets for all five shows go on sale at 12pm AEST this Thursday (April 18) following a presale that kicks off at the same time tomorrow (April 17) – head here for all the relevant info on both sales.

All shows on the tour will see Ladyhawke perform her eponymous debut album in its entirety, as well as the hits from her subsequent three albums (2012’s Anxiety, 2016’s Wild Things and 2021’s Time Flies). The Ladyhawke LP first hit shelves in September of 2008; it went on to be certified Platinum in her stomping grounds of New Zealand, as well as Gold in the UK and Australia.

The album gave us Ladyhawke’s all-time biggest hit, My Delirium, as well as setlist staples like Back Of The Van, Paris Is Burning, Dusk Till Dawn and Magic. My Delirium peaked at #8 on the ARIA Charts, marking its highest chart position worldwide. She had another smash-hit in Belgium with Paris Is Burning, though, peaking at #5 on the Flanders Ultratip chart.

Reviewing her set at last year’s Sweet Relief! festival, Ray Shindo wrote for TheMusic.com.au: “As the festival’s sole live-band performance, Ladyhawke completely transforms the atmosphere as she launches into her indie hit Magic. Wielding a striking blue guitar, she grips our attention. Her presence gives off an intimate sensation, almost resembling a solo concert at The Triffid.”
