Brisbane’s hip live music venues and arts precinct Fortitude Valley is home to a brand-new music venue, founder David Mirabella reveals. The venue is set to “fill a gap in the cultural tapestry” in the area.

Despite not being open for long, Dream Valley has already been described as the “heart of your Saturday nights” by Experience Night Life on Instagram.

Mirabella has been an event producer in Brisbane since 2009. With the Dream Valley Project, the goal isn’t just to open another music venue but to “cultivate a vibrant community space where memories are made, and dreams get a little closer to reality.”

In the day, Dream Valley is an outdoor venue that’s about capturing daytime live music vibes in the sun, while at night, it serves as an extension of local nightclub Prohibition.

“We bring the best of both worlds,” Mirabella tells The Music. Dream Valley connects Prohibition with a new, generously sized outdoor area that can accommodate 1,000 people. The outdoor venue has a six-station bar, seating for 120 punters, VIP seating for 80 people, a mezzanine level that can hold 50 people, and an exclusive entrance.

The venue has been operating for at least eight weeks. It has a permanent covered stage that is eight metres wide, five metres deep, and 4.5 metres high, as well as an exclusive backstage area that holds 15 people. Mirabella says about the space: “There is nothing like that in Fortitude Valley.”

At the time of writing, Dream Valley is looking to curate diverse music line-ups “that includes everything from local bands daytime to Tech house DJ nights, international tours, but always ensuring there’s something for everyone,” Mirabella states.

Specific details are currently being fine-tuned, but Mirabella has dropped a little hint: Dream Valley will be home to a “bi-monthly flagship event” that will showcase the best local entertainment and live music. “We're also looking into community-driven events, themed festivals and live music concerts,” he adds.

“The inspiration for Dream Valley comes from a desire to fill a gap in The Valley's cultural tapestry,” Mirabella explains. “Having been a part of this community for 15 years, I've seen the potential for a space that not only entertains but also unites—a family-friendly venue that embodies the spirit of Brisbane with love, positivity, and inclusivity as its cornerstones.”

Mirabella continues, “Our vision for giving back to the community involves more than just entertainment.”

The aim of Dream Valley as a venue is to support local talent, nurture emerging artists, and provide a platform essential for the community’s cultural expression. “We’re also keen on supporting local businesses, including food trucks and vendors, to create a holistic ecosystem that benefits all,” Mirabella says.

In addition to the space’s present offerings and goals, Mirabella and co. are exploring partnerships with local organisations to host charity events and cultural festivals. “The goal is to make Dream Valley a place where Brisbane's heart beats,” he says.
